Practical advice

In this section, we would like to communicate some useful recommendations that will make your purchase a totally satisfying experience.

  • Advice 1

If your are heating with an EPA certified furnace for the first time, take some time to read the instruction manual. It contains valuable informations in regards to the EPA controlled combustion technology, which is very different than the conventional slow combustion technology. By following the instructions you will get the optimum combustion time without having to reload the stove constantly.

  • Advice 2

In case of overheating in the plenum, the fan limit will cut the power of the primary servomotor to slow down the combustion, while keeping the blower on in order to cool down the unit. It is therefor important that the primary air intake damper be completely closed when the thermostat is not requesting heat and that the ash pan be completely closed and air tight at all times except if you are cleaning out the ash.

  • Advice 3

It is really important to clean the heat exchangers of the furnace as soon as the heating season is over because the soot in the heat exchangers combined to the humidity of the basements in the summer time will create an acid reaction that will accelerate the deterioration of the steel.

  • Advice 4

It is really important to not have the blower constantly working when you are heating with wood. Even at slow speeds, this could prevent the furnace from reaching its optimal working heat which is necessary to obtain the secondary burn. Furthermore, it can also cool the gases enough to create creosote and prematurely clog the stove pipe and the chimney.
